The Dallas Mavericks have made a significant move ahead of the upcoming season, acquiring center Daniel Gafford from the Washington Wizards and forward PJ Washington from the Charlotte Hornets in a three-team trade.

As part of the deal, the Mavericks sent center Richaun Holmes and a 2024 first-round pick to the Wizards. They also agreed to trade the 10th overall pick in the upcoming draft to the Oklahoma City Thunder for forward Cason Wallace, who was originally selected by the Mavericks.

Gafford, a 24-year-old, 6'11" center, is a strong rebounder and rim protector. He averaged 12.1 points and 9.7 rebounds per game for the Wizards last season. Washington will be making space for Gafford after acquiring Kevin Durant in a separate trade.

Washington, a 24-year-old, 6'7" forward, is a versatile scorer and defender. He averaged 12.2 points and 6.4 rebounds per game for the Hornets last season. Washington will provide the Mavericks with depth and athleticism at the forward position.

The Mavericks are hoping that the additions of Gafford and Washington will help them contend for a championship. The team has made several moves this offseason, including trading for Kyrie Irving from the Brooklyn Nets, to strengthen its roster.
